Rafoxanide is a salicylanilide anthelmintic. It is used mainly against liver flukes (Fasciola hepatica and F. gigantica, adults and older immature stages), the blood-sucking roundworm Haemonchus contortus and the sheep nasal bot Oestrus ovis.
It is used in sheep, goats and cattle, often in combination products with levamisole or a benzimidazole to widen the spectrum.
Typical dosage forms are oral drenches (suspensions) and boluses. Indications and authorisation vary by country; dose and withdrawal periods must follow the approved product label.
